Meet Kim Kimble

Kimberly Kimble, who is most commonly known as Kim Kimble was born in Chicago, Illinois on 24th December 1971. She is a celebrity hairstylist, beauty expert, and entrepreneur. Kim Kimble is basically the hands behind famous names like Beyonce, Halle Berry, Kelly Rowland, Mary J Blige, Shakira and Rihanna. Her self-made Hair Empire consists of hair-care products, hair extensions, salons, and a TV show. So where did it all begin?

As a child, Kim Kimble was a huge fan of fashion and had dreams of becoming a designer.  At the tender age two, she was cutting out magazine pictures and paper dolls to create her very own fashion world.  She enrolled at a beauty school with no money to pay her tuition so she did hair on the side.  When Kim Kimble realized how creative hair-styling could be, she ditched her fashion designer dreams and pursued the business of hair. After finishing beauty school, Kim Kimble worked at her mother’s salon as a shampoo girl. Here she received simple teachings which became the building blocks of her career.

Both Kim Kimble’s mother and grandmother were stylists. However, her grandmother was more into healthy hair and conditioning treatments. While learning the business from both mother and grandmother she created her very own techniques which she showcased at her 1st Salon, Phaze II, in Los Angeles in 1995.

Kim Kimble’s celebrity hairstyling career took off when she was hired by the film producer Robert Townsend as Key Hairstylist on the movie “B.A.P.S” starring Halle Berry. The elaborate hairpieces that she designed for the film caught the attention of other Hollywood executives and talent, which led to her working on TV sets for shows like Cinderella and Moesha starring Brandy. Later, Kim Kimble worked on The Jamie Foxx Show, Two Can Play That Game and Austin Powers: Goldmember. During the filming of Austin Powers, Kim Kimble worked with Beyonce, which made her a household name in the hair world.  Since then Kimble has worked on  productions like Think Like A Man, Sparkle, Dreamgirls, Obsessed, Deliver Us From Eva, to name a few.

A few years later, Kim Kimble was asked if she ever doubted the magnitude of her career, to which she replied, “When preparation meets opportunity. You always have to be ready for something. When you get your mind set in preparing for something, you don’t have time to doubt.”

It is her philosophy that healthy hair and great style should coexist – thus, her products and tools are designed to work with a wide range of ethnic hair textures to create chic, yet manageable styles. If the “Queen of Hair” is not working on her multiple businesses, she can be found hair-styling for celebrities like Gabrielle Union, Vanessa Williams, the Williams sisters, Kerry Washington, Sanaa Lathan, Garcelle Beauvais, Tarji P. Henson and Zendaya.
